Carlsberg’s decision to abandoned plans for a new 600,000 sq ft Northamptonshire warehouse came as a “bolt from the blue” on Monday, insiders have told SHD Logistics.
The decision – which came direct from bosses in Copenhagen – has left the UK side of the business stunned, sources claim.
Yesterday in emerged that the Danish brewer had walked away from plans for the 600,000 sq ft warehouse on a 28-acre site at Brackmills, Northampton.
They agreed a deal with developers Roxhill a little less than twelve months ago.
The reversal is the latest in a long saga which has seen Carslberg searching for a new national distribution centre for five years.
Nobody was available to comment at Roxhill whose planning application for the Carlsberg development is still proceeding – for now.
